How to avoid Northbridge Violence

A reports has been done on violence in Northbridge with some interesting findings which may help people avoid the majority of incidents recorded by police.

The key findings of the Coakes Report are:
Trouble Time - defined as from 11pm-3am. Confirmed as the key time for trouble on weekends, accounting for about two-thirds of recorded incidents.
Just 2 percent of incidents occur from 5am-6am. The “Liquor Control Amendment Bill 2010” seeks to force nightclubs to close at 5am instead of 6am - which, according to data, would be ineffectual in tackling anti-social behaviour.
In Northbridge, six venues account for more than 5 percent of total incidents; between them they account for 64 percent of all incidents from 9pm-6am on weekends.

Those venues are:
  • Black Betty's Nightclub & Restaurant, with 545 total incidents;
  • Aberdeen Hotel, with 495 total incidents;
  • The Paramount Nightclub, with 403;
  • The Mustang Bar, on 275;
  • Elephant & Wheelbarrow, with 243; and
  • The Shed, at 199
